Who would have thought that with less than 24 hours to go for America to choose its next president, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, wife of former president Bill Clinton, would be facing the toughest question of all: how could she forget Amitabh Bachchan's name?

The Washington Post newspaper's correspondent Jose DelReal posted a picture of one of Clinton’s leaked e-mails which has her asking aide Huma Abedin, “What is the name of the famous older Indian actor we met few years ago?”

Clinton's e-mail dates back to 2011. The Clintons have regularly visited India and hobnobbed with powerful and celebrated figures of the country. Abedin reminded the then secretary of state that the actor in question was Amitabh Bachchan.

Unfortunately, the e-mail became the target of trolls as twitterati mocked the presidential hopeful for not remembering Bachchan's name. Here are a few of the messages that followed the explosive disclosure:

Interestingly, some embarrassed Clinton further by suggesting that the older actor could also be Aamir Khan, who is known to the American politician.

As a rule, Indians on social media are not known to be kind to those who are ignorant of their stars. A few years ago, tennis star Maria Sharapova was hounded and even abused on social media for not knowing cricket great Sachin Tendulkar.

While Sharapova had nothing to lose, Clinton, who is running neck-and-neck with Republican candidate Donald Trump, must be hoping this leaked email does not cost her the votes of Indian Americans.
