Shah Rukh Khan: I don’t like many actors. I have malice towards one and all

Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t shied away from making fun of his own films ever since he achieved superstardom. The actor was at his candid best once again during an interaction with film journalist Anupama Chopra for her web show, Beneath The Surface. He was in between shots for Imtiaz Ali’s The Ring, which sees his pairing with Anushka Sharma.

SRK, as Khan is popularly known, is considered a romance specialist. The actor has been consistent in the genre after Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). During the interaction, the actor revealed a peculiar pattern in the love stories he has starred in.

When it was pointed out to Khan that he has spent half his career romancing leading ladies on screen, he said, "With women who belong to other men. I was just telling Imtiaz and Anushka. The conversation wasn’t about the scene. I just told them, ‘I have made an art and profession out of loving women who are going to get married to someone, already married, or engaged. I run after them and get them from any corner; sometimes through charm, goodness, sometimes I throw them off the building [a reference to Baazigar (1993)]. I accept, I have a problem.” 

Over the last decade or so, Khan has specially mocked his unsuccessful films of the 1990s. He chose Ram-Jaane on this occasion and shared an instance of a real-life bad guy getting annoyed by his (Khan's) portrayal of a goon. 

“He got so disturbed to see the way I played the bad guy. He said, ‘Which bad guy doesn’t wear a shirt under a suit? Aisa dikhta hoon main?’ He also referred to the gold chain saying, ‘Itne flashy hote hain hum?’ I said, ‘I am very sorry, I am new to Mumbai. I don’t know the bad guys from Mumbai’.”

The fake friendships of the movie world have been talked about for decades. Khan touched upon this issue too by declaring that he has a grudge against every actor. “I don’t like many actors. I have malice towards one and all. All actors have that. Somebody told me, ‘Politicians all around the world abuse in public and hug in private. Actors all around the world hug in public and abuse in private’.” 

Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in Gauri Shinde's Dear Zindagi, which is scheduled to be released on 25 November, followed by Rahul Dholakia’s Raees, which is scheduled for release on Republic Day 2017.
