Audiences embraced Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi as it had a good opening weekend with Rs32.50 crore. Despite the current currency crisis, the film opened at 1,200 screens all over India and did well at multiplexes. The dual combination of Shah Rukh and current sweetheart, Alia Bhatt, appealed to audiences both young and old.
Dear Zindagi is well on its way to becoming a hit. The other two films that opened last Friday with Dear Zindagi were Moh Maya Money and Saansein - The Last Breath.
Starring Ranvir Shorey and Neha Dhupia, Moh Maya Money’s three-day collection after opening on 700 screens was Rs1.35 crore, while Saansein with lesser-known actors Rajneesh Duggal, Sonarika Bhadoria and Hiten Tejwani, made Rs1.05 crore with shows in 1,400 screens over three days.
Overseas, the Bhatt-Khan starrer is also looking to score well with audiences. In U.S., the film opened early due the Thanksgiving holiday and has grossed Rs13,74,29,90 approx. ($2,00,000) already from the North American market.
