Dear Zindagi has got mixed reviews but many critics and fans have been going gaga over the performances of Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan who has more than an extended cameo in the Gauri Shinde film.
With SRK, as Khan is popularly known, in the cast, one might have expected the film to get a big opening, and Dear Zindagi has not disappointed, having garnered around Rs9 crore on opening day. The figure is good considering that the film was released on only 1200 screens.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh pegged the opening day figure at Rs8.75 crore.
Meanwhile, BoxOfficeIndia.com put the opening day figure at around Rs9.5 crore. With a budget of around Rs30 crore, the film's producers Karan Johar, Gauri Khan and Gauri Shinde would hope it crosses the Rs50 mark in five days.
While the domestic collection has been decent, the film has had a good opening overseas as well. As per BoxOfficeIndia.com, the collection in North America (USA + Canada) and the Gulf market has amounted to US $4 million, which is a million dollars better than Alia Bhatt’s other release this year Kapoor & Sons. Dear Zindagi had a mid-week release in North America.
