The rom-com as a genre may be dead around the world, but in Hindi cinema, it’s still thriving. Actor Rajkummar Rao, who was last seen in Hansal Mehta’s Aligarh (2016), has been cast opposite Shruti Haasan in the upcoming Behen Hogi Teri to be directed by Ajay K Pannalal.
The film, produced by Amul Vikas Mohan, Tony D’Souza and Nitin Upadhyaya, is said to be a commercial entertainer and will be set in Lucknow.
Producer Mohan said in an interview with DNA newspaper that the project is a “fun film with a big heart. We have spent a lot of time getting the story right because that’s our number-one priority. We were lucky to get a great cast which we are sure will really surprise and entice audiences. Shooting begins in December.”
Shooting for Behen Hogi Teri should be wrapped up by January 2017. The film is due to be released some time next year. Rao also has Trapped, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, which premiered at the 18th Mumbai Film Festival, up for release next year while Shruti Haasan has Tigmanshu Dhulia's long delayed Yaara scheduled for release as well.
