Box-office report: Force 2 shows average force, Tum Bin 2 is negligible

Nishikant Kamat’s action thriller, Force managed to earn decent at the box-office when it released in 2011. Starring John Abraham in the lead, the film didn’t disappoint its investors. Circa 2016, producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah is back with its sequel, Force 2, which is helmed by Abhinay Deo. As Genelia D’Souza’s character dies in the first film, the responsibility of the female lead is given to Sonakshi Sinha.

There wasn’t much excitement and anticipation for the film, which can be seen from its opening day collections. Force 2 earned Rs5 crore yesterday (Friday). This isn’t an encouraging figure considering its high budget of Rs45 crore. The collections need to jump enormously in the remaining weekend for it to have a substantial chance of at least recovering the cost. The figures are shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Like Rock On 2 last week, it is speculated that this film too is hit due to the demonetisation move in the country. However, some trade pundits are of the opinion that it wouldn’t have made much of a difference as the hype was anyway low for the film. 

Anubhav Sinha’s Tum Bin 2 too released yesterday. It’s the sequel of his own surprise hit of 2001, Tum Bin. The second film of the franchise has opened to dismal collections of Rs75 lakh at the most. The film starring Neha Sharma, Aashim Gulati and Aditya Seal is made at a budget of Rs12 crore. It seems the film will have a tough time recovering the cost.
