It has begun. Deepika Padukone has started off her Padmavati schedule with a traditional folk dance. Reports suggested that the actress was spotted at Mumbai's Mehboob studios shooting for a song, for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period epic.

A source from the film's unit has been quoted by PTI saying, "We have started shooting for a song. It's a folk song, a Rajasthani song. The set is huge and grand. The song features only Deepika Padukone." The song is reportedly similar to the 'ghoomar' dance form that Padukone performed so well in Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Raam Leela (2013).

The scale of Padmavati has been hyped greatly, and Bhansali is expected to match the grandeur that he put up in Bajirao Mastani (2015). With a star cast of Shahid Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh, in addition to Deepika Padukone, the director has spared no expense in his filming. A complete area of Mumbai's Mehboob Studios had been kept under wraps to prevent any leaks. This explains how there have been no pictures of the actress in costume among the press yet.

Not that Padukone was alone, the set saw an interesting visit by Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt. The Dear Zindagi cast dropped in for a friendly chat with the actress before departing.

With Shahid set to begin shooting next week, and Ranveer soon after that, Bhansali's dream project is well underway.
