Long gone are the days when most Indian families abhorred the sight of a liplock on the big screen. However, despite the taboo having been dumped, the big, traditional production houses have often kept smooches in check. Now, Yash Raj Films seems to be breaking that barrier too with the countless liplocks in its upcoming romantic drama Befikre.

In a pleasant surprise, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has issued a 'U/A' (unrestricted public exhibition subject to parental guidance) certificate. And lead actor Ranveer Singh could not hide his delight at the film getting a 'U/A' certificate. In fact, he deemed Befikre a family film.

"We are very glad that the CBFC has given us a 'U/A' certificate. It's a very happy film and everyone should come with their families to watch it." Singh said at the launch of the new Befikre track, ‘You And Me’.

Interestingly, CBFC chairman Pahlaj Nihalani, who had developed a reputation of being very tough on lovemaking scenes and cuss words, felt that the innumerable intimate scenes in Befikre were a celebration of love.

Singh also said director Aditya Chopra’s aesthetic sense in shooting the intimate scenes ensured that they did not turn out to be offensive. "No one will get offended while watching the film," he said. "The censor board, I think, also felt that a kiss is shown with the same kind of warmth as a hug.”

Befikre, starting Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor, will be released on 9 December.
