Twinkle Khanna is turning out to have quite a career outside of the film industry. The actress, who turned author with Mrs Funnybones, has now published her second book, The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. The book launch saw a sellout crowd of stars from the Hindi film industry, including husband Akshay Kumar, director and friends Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, and Khanna's mother Dimple Kapadia.
Famed for her quick wit and repartee, Khanna was the centre of attention at the launch. While Johar continued from his chat-show ribbing of Bhatt, introducing her with "Let me call on stage Alia Bhatt who now knows who the President of India is." Khanna was quick to come to her rescue, asking Johar to say the full form of MNS. The political party proved to be the bane for Johar's latest movie, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Not to be outdone, Johar retorted, "I only know the full form of PMS. Which is what I’m going through these days." The friendship and camaraderie between the two continued when Khanna compared her childhood friend to a Rs100 note, whose value is only realised in a crunch. Johar retorted, "You could have said Rs500. You shortchanged me again."
The show saw a host of celebrities and stars including directors Homi Adajania and R Balki, Sonali Bendre Bahl, and director Abhishek Kapoor among others.
Azmi , Kapoor and Bhatt even read a paragraph from Khanna's new book. Bhatt said, "Don't think I was so nervous before giving my first shot," before launching into her reading. Kapoor jokingly promised that he brought his 'bestest English' to the event. Khanna was all praise for her family's support, calling husband Kumar as her 'biggest cheerleader'.
Well, looking at her wit and grace, Khanna might think of taking over Johar's talk show sometime soon.
