Ranveer, Vaani's carelessness in Befikre's 'You And Me’ track is not amusing

From dressing up like penguins to dancing with a leg in cast, the antics of the lead pair in the new track smack of mindless behaviour. Worse, the track lacks in both lyrics and music.

India celebrated Children’s Day yesterday, but the kids may not be too amused by the chidlsh antics of Ranveer Singh and Vaani Kapoor in the new track from Befikre. Titled 'You And Me', the song is filled with reckless, childish behaviour.

So we have Dharam (Singh) and Shyra (Kapoor) dressing and dancing like penguins, fighting with a vegetable vendor, Shyra breaking a leg while riding a bike and yet dancing in hospital with a cast on. Save for the fancy penguin dress, one is unsure whether the other antics of the two actors will amuse too many kids.

The mishmash of Hindi-English words has been penned by Jaideep Sahni, the very man who has written songs for films like Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) and Chak De! India (2007). You really need to read the subtitles to understand the lyrics, and even then you may not get it. Vishal-Shekhar appear to have partly rehashed the music of their earlier track 'Jaane Kyun' from Dostana (2008) into the 'You And Me' track.

Perhaps the only thing worth noting about this song is how Dharam and Shyra promise never to fall in love by using Europe's famous 'Love Locks' ritual.

Singers Nikhil D’Souza and Rachel Verghese were walking a tightrope. You really can’t fault them for the shoddy lyrics and archaic pop music.

Well, to each her own. There is always a taker for any music. So, here’s the video of 'You And Me'.
