The film magazine takes a page out of Vanity Fair’s annual Hollywood issue by photographing the stylish stars against a similar background as the 2011 cover.

To celebrate their latest cover for their Glamour & Style issue, Filmfare brought together Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karan Johar, Kajol, Siddharth Malhotra, Katrina Kaif, Tiger Shroff and Saiyami Kher for a one-of-a-kind cover. Except it’s not.
The cover which was taken for Absolut Elyx Filmfare Glamour & Style awards bears a striking resemblance to Vanity Fair’s 2011 Hollywood issue shot by Norman Jean Roy and featuring the young Oscar contenders that year from Jesse Eisenberg to Jennifer Lawrence. The cover also showcased co-hosts Anne Hathaway and James Franco (himself a nominee that year for 127 Hours).
The 2011 Vanity Fair featured one sole senior actor amongst the young ‘uns, actor Robert Duvall as the bartender in the cocktail lounge. In the Filmfare cover, there’s no one behind the bar, but Amitabh Bachchan is only senior actor amidst the younger actors.
The Vanity Fair Hollywood issue is a tradition going back 21 years. They were launched in 1995 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the film industry. Looks like Filmfare is starting its own tradition here as well.
