Chopra replaces Kareena Kapoor Khan who starred in Golmaal Returns (2008) and Golmaal 3 (2010) and is awaiting the birth of her first child in December. Kapoor has signed on to be a part of Sonam Kapoor’s 2017 release Veere Di Wedding with co-stars Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania.
This will be Chopra's third 2017 release after Meri Pyaar Bindu with Ayushmann Khurrana and Takadum with Sushant Singh Rajput. Chopra took a two-year break after the box-office failures of her 2014 films — Daawat-e-Ishq and Kill/Dil.
Golmaal 4 also features returning cast members Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade. The film is slated for a Diwali 2017 release.
