Monjoy Mukerji revives the Mukerji name with Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara

The first-time director continues the Mukerji family's filmmaking tradition.

Filmmaker Monjoy Mukerji, son of actor Joy Mukerji and grandson of legendary producer Sashadhar Mukherjee, is bringing back his father’s banner, Joy Mukerji Enterprises, with his latest film, Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara (2016).

Monjoy's grandfather’s studio Filmalaya produced hits like Dil Deke Dekho (1959), Love in Simla (1960), and Ek Musafir Ek Hasina (1962) while his father Joy is most well known for the 'Love' trilogy, Love in Simla, Love in Tokyo (1966) and Love in Bombay (2013).

Monjoy Mukerji will be making his directorial debut with Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara with his own screenplay. He is also producing the film, under his own banner, Monjoy Mukerji Productions, in association with Anikaa Films. The film, which focuses on the ups and downs of three couples in various stages of a relationship, features actors Sahil Anand, Niyati Joshi, Vikram Kochchar, Divya Choksey, Nilesh Lalwani and Jayaka Yagnik.

The first song from the film, ‘Meheram mere’, has been written by Mohit Pathak, with music by Ajay Singha. Mohit Chauhan sings the melodic romantic number shot amongst snowy locales, picturised on one of the lead couples, Sahil Anand and Niyati Joshi. Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara will release on 24 June 2016.
