As soon as news of Malik’s hospitalisation spread, stars from the industry came to visit the musician. Singer Asha Bhonsle and filmmaker Mahesht Bhatt were among those who called on Malik. Anmol thanked Bhonsle, Bhatt and all the others who came to offer their support.

In recent years, Malik has been selective in his work for the Hindi film industry. The seasoned composer received rave reviews for his music in the 2015 hit film Dum Laga Ke Haisha.
