His last film Lingaa was a dud, but Rajinikanth will look to swing back into action with his next, Kabali. If the response to the first teaser of the film online is anything to go by, Kabali could set the ball rolling again for the eternal superstar.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, Kabali wil release wordwide on May 26. The action drama also stars rising star Radhika Apte and Dinesh Ravi. The Tamil film will also be released in Telugu.

The teaser was launched on micro video blogging site YouTube and garnered five million hits in a day. At the time of going to press, this figure had soared to over 6 million views.

The minute-long teaser sees Rajinikanth sporting a grey beard and throwing punches in patent Rajini style. Rajinikanth plays a don here. The last time Rajinkanth played a don was in the 1994 movie Baasha, which was a massive hit.

Lovers of Rajinikanth in Hindi cinema will be hoping for a dubbed version of Kabali. The superstar’s last film, where he was paired with Sonakshi Sinha, was a rare flop.
