Nargis Fakhri's publicist rubbishes report of her 'breakdown’

All is not well with Nargis Fakhri but it ain’t what has been reported. A prominent Mumbai daily had reported that the actress suffered a breakdown after her rumoured boyfriend, Uday Chopra, changed his mind on marriage.

During the promotion of Nargis Fakhri's latest film Azhar, which released today, the actress maintained that Uday Chopra would remain a dear friend and that while she is currently single she is not ready to mingle. However, speculation over her relationship with Uday Chopra continued to do the rounds.

The actress was not pleased with reports of her ‘breakdown’ and chose to set the record straight through her publicist.

"Nargis has been extremely overworked working on three films simultaneously over the last year," Fakhri's spokesperson said. "For someone who is used to doing one film at a time, this was quite a bit for Nargis."

The publicist said the multiple schedules and intense work hours that film-making demands is "not something everyone can cope with". Besides, the publicist said, Nargis Fakhri had been unwell right through the Azhar promotions with multiple injuries -- torn hamstring, anterior knee ligament thinning and mild socket dislocation along with burning of the stomach lining due to lead and arsenic poisoning.

"Due to these multiple issues and her overall exhaustion, she had a fever of about 101 degrees right through her promotions," the spokesperson continued. "Even though she was advised complete rest, she ensured she completed everything she had committed to for Azhar.

"However, due to her deteriorating condition, she had to request producer Sajid Nadiadwala and bow out of the Housefull 3 promotions to go back home to New York for a month to address all her medical issues and recuperate.

“She has no plans to leave B-Town and will be back on the sets to complete the pending patchwork for her film Banjo from the second week of June. In addition, she has already verbally agreed to two other projects for 2017 before she left and will complete the paperwork when she is back. That coupled with her brand commitments that extend over multiple years is testament of her being here to stay."

Sajid Nadiadwala, producer of Housefull 3, expressed concern about his lead actress's health. “Our priority is Nargis's health," he said in a statement. "We do hope she recuperates fast and can be there around the release of the film as she is an integral part of the Housefull 3 team."

Nargis Fakhri has been linked for long with Uday Chopra. Buzz had it that Chopra was initially keen to tie the knot with the Rockstar actress but at that time Nargis Fakhri was more keen on her career. Unfortunately, her career has not progressed as well as she would have liked since making her debut in 2011. Now that she has a slew of films lined up, Nargis Fakhri reportedly sought a commitment from Uday, but the Chopra scion had second thoughts in the interregnum. This supposedly left Fakhri disheartened and the actress suffered a nervous breakdown.

Nargis Fakhri and Uday Chopra have largely kept their relationship under wraps. Last year, the actress courted controversy after she refused to work with Kapil Sharma in Bank Chor, which was to be produced by her boyfriend's production house. Both Nargis and Uday Chopra were trolled by Kapil Sharma fans over this.
