The 63rd National Film Awards saw a surprise winner with S.S Rajamouli’s magnum opus Bahubali bagging the award for the Best Feature film. Simultaneously made into Tamil and Telegu, the film was then dubbed into Hindi, Malayalam and French.
Deemed as one of the most expensive films made in India, Bahubali won praise for its special effects and cinematography. The film had earlier swept the popular awards down south.
Meanwhile, Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut, too, picked up the prestigious awards. Big B bagged the best actor’s award for Piku while Kangana Ranaut picked up her second successive best actress award. Ranaut won the award for Tanu Weds Manu Returns. The actress had earlier won it for Queen in 2014.
Meanwhile, Sanjay Leela Bhansali picked up the best director’s award for Bajirao Mastani.
