Not too long ago, the media was abuzz with tales of a Sonakshi Sinha vs Ayushmann Khurrana clash this September. Unfortunately, that has been thrown out of the window with Khurrana’s Manmarziyan being pushed to next year, leaving a clear field for Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira.
That clash though was never going to be take place as the shoot of Manmarziyan had come to a halt following a rift between the director Sameer Sharma and producer Anand L Rai. As widely expected, Sharma has been show the door and is replaced by Nil Battey Sannata director Aswiny Iyer Tiwari.
Speaking to Cinestaan, Anand L Rai, filmmaker and producer of Manmarziyan, said, “The shooting for Manmarziyan will commence again in August, and wind up by October. The film is now likely to come only in 2017. We also have new director in Ashwiny Iyer, who has directed Nil Battey Sannata.”
Manmarziyan will reunite Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar. The duo rocked as a pair in the 2015 film Dum Lagake Haisha. With Manmarziyan’s shooting stalled, Khurrana had recently begun shooting for his next Meri Pyaari Bindu with Parineeti Chopra.
With Rai's film not releasing this September, he will have the tough task to find a suitable release date early next year as host of big films are vying for the coveted Republic Day slot. Thus it’s safe to assume that Manmarziyan will not release before February next year.
