The teaser trailer for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s upcoming film Mirzya was unveiled this evening. Mirzya is an epic saga that moves across two worlds – the real and the fantastical – and is a vehicle for the big-screen debut of newcomers Harshvardhan Kapoor (son of Anil Kapoor) and Saiyami Kher (granddaughter of Usha Kiron).
Based on the tragic Punjabi legend of Mirza and Sahiban, the Mirzya trailer gives teasing glimpses of the two leads, Kapoor and Kher. Actor Anuj Chaudhary also has a pivotal role in this love story. The trailer shows off the breathtaking locales in which the two worlds of the film are set, with a haunting song sung by Daler Mehndi. The modern love story is set in Rajasthan while the ancient folk tale is set in Ladakh.
Beautifully filmed by Polish cinematographer Pawel Dyllus, Mirzya has the same grand scale and ambition that were present in Mehra’s previous films Rang De Basanti (2006) and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). Distinguished lyricist and writer Gulzar has penned the story, while the music has been composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Mirzya releases in theatres on 7 October 2016.
