Shrish Kunder files defamation case against Nepali filmmaker

A day after Shirish Kunder’s short film, Kriti met with a positive response, netizens were taken aback after a Nepali filmmaker, Aneel Neupane accused the filmmaker of stealing the plot of Kriti from his short film titled, Bob. Neupane made the allegations through a Facebook post and, later, in an interview with a leading daily. 

Soon, Kunder denied all allegations of plagiarism by stating that Kriti was shot before Bob was released on the internet. And now, he has filed a legal notice against Neupane for allegedly making false and defamatory statements against him. 

The makers of Kriti have also claimed that the concept of the film was discussed with the cast a year ago and they were given the script six months before the shoot, which took place in February 2016. They also stated that the launch of the short film, which took place last week, was planned three months in advance. 

But that’s not all. In the legal notice, the makers of Kriti have asked Neupane to offer unconditional written apology, refrain from making any further allegations and remove the film Bob from the internet. 

Kriti is a psychological thriller starring Manoj Bajpayee, Radhika Apte, Neha Sharma and Manu Rishi Chadha.
