The film media went into a tizzy today with Tusshar Kapoor coming out with the revelation that he had become a father to a baby boy, born from IVF and surrogacy. The Golmaal Returns actor had kept this a secret from his fans and the media till the last moment.

The baby, named Laksshya, arrived a week ago, but the actor only revealed the news to media personnel today. Speaking later at a press conference, Kapoor said that the arrival of the child had completed his family. He said, "I always wanted to be a father...I am already 40 years old, and I wanted to be a single parent. I feel my family is complete now."

Speaking about the idea to go in for the in-vitro fertilization (IVF) method, popularly known as a test-tube baby, the actor said, "I had gone to Tirupati last year, and met Prakash Jha there. He suggested that I choose this option. I didn't want to adopt, so I went ahead with this."

Kapoor also said he was thankful for the support he has received from the industry for this step. The actor said, "The industry has been very supportive, and many people have wished me. I just spoke to [filmmaker-choreographer] Farah [Khan] and she congratulated me."

The actor also revealed that it was his sister, Ekta Kapoor, who suggested the name Laksshya for the baby. "Ekta is very excited," he said, "She is a June baby too, like my son. She now says that he is her twin."

As for the responsibility of raising a child, Kapoor was quick to point out that he would not be alone on the job. "Ekta and my parents will also be caretakers for the baby", he said.

The baby arrived at the Kapoor household a week earlier, but the actor postponed any revelations till the last minute. Although the baby was not present at the press conference, Kapoor promised to introduce him after three months. "Let him get healthier... I will introduce him to all of you after three months," he said.

The act, though surprising, is a rare one in the Hindi film industry. Tusshar Kapoor is definitely deserving of all the good wishes that come his way.
