Madhuri Dixit likely to play Alia Bhatt's mum in Shiddat

The Dhak-Dhak Girl had earlier rejected offers to play mother to Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra.

She is 49 and still looks like a million bucks. To her fans, Madhuri Dixit remains the Dhak-Dhak Girl. It would be unimaginable for them, then, to see her in any role other than the lead.

But time, as the saying goes, waits for no one, not even Madhuri Dixit, and one has to adapt with age to survive, something even Amitabh Bachchan has accepted, with grace and great success, giving the one-time superstar a professional second wind.

After the poor show in her comeback films, Dedh Ishqiya (2014) and Gulaab Gang (2014), Dixit has been looking for a definitive role which hasn't come her way yet.

That wait could be over soon, however, with the star reportedly set to feature in 2 States (2014) director Abhishek Varman's next, Shiddat, which stars Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, with Arjun Kapoor tipped to join this love-triangle tale.

According to reports, Varman has signed Dixit for the film to play a mother. The buzz is that she will be the mother of Alia Bhatt's character.

In the past, Madhuri Dixit has refused to play a mother to Sonam Kapoor. In 2015, it was rumoured that Zoya Akhtar was keen to have Dixit play mother to Priyanka Chopra in Dil Dhadakne Do. But she once again turned the role down.

A year later, Dixit is said to have agreed to play a mum. People mature with time and it seems Dixit is seeing the brighter side of this move as well. She may play a mum, but expect Madhuri Dixit to look as fabulous as ever.
