Sussanne Khan, ex-wife of actor Hrithik Roshan, has been accused by a Goa real-estate firm, Emgee Properties, of falsely misrepresenting herself to obtain a contract. The interior designer has been booked by the police in the tiny West Coast state for falsely declaring herself as an architect to land a contract.
The Goa police confirmed that a first information report (FIR) had been lodged against Khan, saying she had cheated Emgee Properties to the tune of Rs1.89 crore.
The FIR was lodged by Mudhit Gupta, a managing partner with the real-estate firm. Gupta told the police that a written contract had been established with Khan “for architectural and designing services”. The complaint alleged that Khan failed to deliver the terms during the stipulated time mentioned in the contract.
Khan has spoken out against the recent accusations, claiming she had initiated arbitration proceedings against the company over her pending payments. She said, “It is alleged that I have cheated Emgee Enterprises and misrepresented to the complainant that I am an architect. The complaint is motivated and preposterous and has been only filed to intimidate me and pressurise me to withdraw the arbitration proceedings initiated by me in the first instance to recover my dues and damages resulting from breach of contract.”
Khan has decided to pursue the matter legally. She said, “I have not made any misrepresentation and have maintained the highest standards of ethics in discharge of my work. I am going to take the arbitration proceedings to their logical conclusion and instead of getting intimidated will respond to the frivolous charge in the most fitting way possible. Such wild allegations do not scare me. Rather it encourages me to stand and respond.”
Sussanne Khan has been working as an interior designer and furniture couturier since 2011. She holds a degree in interior design from Brooks College, California.
