Salman Khan clears air on Raees release and Arijit Singh controversy

The Dabangg actor reveals the real reason why Shah Rukh Khan's Raees got postponed, and says Arijit needs to get so upset

Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees was supposed to clash with Salman Khan’s keenly awaited Sultan on Eid. But the film has now been postponed to January 2017. During a recent media interaction, Salman revealed the reason for Raees postponement and why he is glad about it.

The Dabangg actor shared that Raees got postponed since the film wasn’t ready. He also says that two big films shouldn’t clash since we don’t have enough screens. “The film was not ready. Also, I think two big films should not clash it's a loss of distributors and exhibitors. It's nothing to do with Shah Rukh, or me but it's the loss of distributors and exhibitors. We do not have so many theatres and screens to release two films together,” he said.

He further elaborated, “We have only 5,000 screens and around 2,000 theatres. In a country of 125 crore, only 3.4 crore saw Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the most watched film ever. We are 20,000 theatres short. The day we have them, two big hero films can come together.”

Recently, singer Arijit Singh was in the news for being reportedly upset for his version of a song in Sultan being replaced by another singer. To this, Salman initially reacted saying, “Who is that?” But he soon added that it is the producer or the director’s call to decide whose version to be retained and one shouldn’t get upset at such things. "In every film there are lot of singers who sing and director and producer who make the choice of who is going to be the best voice for the film. One voice was mine but that was also rejected, so why get so upset and so hurt. This is life," Salman said.
