5 things that prove Dishoom has a Dhoom hangover

While the names Dishoom and Dhoom themelves sound quite similar, there are many other elements in this new Rohit Dhawan directed action-adventure film that remind us of the hit Yash Raj Films’ franchise.

Buddy cops

Just like in Dhoom (where police officers Jai and Ali join hands), two cops – Kabir (John Abraham) and Junaid (Varun Dhawan) are called upon to solve a mystery and get hold of the villain. While one’s stern like Abhishek Bachchan, the other’s goofy in the Uday Chopra zone.

The smart bad guy
The Dishoom trailer indicates that the villain (Akshaye Khanna) will send the two leading men on a goose chase, just like Dhoom baddies John, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan did. The antagonists in both these films are formidable, smart and hard to get!

The chase sequences

Dhoom is high on action sequences with large vehicles - trucks, speed boats and helicopters - and also bike and car chases. Now, watch the Dishoom trailer and you'll know that it has all of these - John and Varun standing on a copter, driving speed boats and getting away on a bike. Deja vu!

Heroine in a bikini

While Dhoom had Esha Deol sporting a bikini, Dhoom 2 had Bipasha Basu. In keeping with the Dhoom tradition, Dishoom has also included the mandatory bikini shot of Nargis Fakhri.

Franchise plans
While Dhoom 4 script is now being finalised by Yash Raj Films, newbie Dishoom has already been planned as a franchise. Well, that should ideally depend on whether the film takes off at the box office or not!
