This Friday saw the release of Ribhu Dasgupta’s Te3n. Despite an impressive cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vidya Balan, the film hasn’t managed to create an impact at the box-office as it has earned only around Rs 11 crore in its first weekend.
Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and produced by Sujoy Ghosh (of Kahaani fame), the film is a thriller about a senior citizen’s (Bachchan) quest for justice for his granddaughter who was kidnapped and, later, killed. He is helped by a police inspector and a cop-turned-priest played by Balan and Nawazuddin respectively.
The cost of production and marketing, which is reportedly Rs 28 crore, has turned out to be costly for Te3n. By earning only Rs 11 crore in the first three days, it is now almost impossible for the film to even recover the cost. And if Udta Punjab manages to release on its scheduled date of 17 June, it will seal all chances for the Amitabh Bachchan starrer.
Deepak Tijori’s Do Lafzon Ki Kahani also saw the light of day on Friday. Starring Randeep Hooda and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead, the film garnered dismal collections in the first weekend. The exact numbers are not known yet.
