Sussanne explains why she divorced Hrithik Roshan

Estranged wife of the film star said she felt it was pointless being in a false relationship.

It has been two years since actor-director Sanjay Khan's daughter Sussanne Khan separated from actor husband Hrithik Roshan. Back then, Roshan had issued a statement saying his wife wanted to end the relationship. What added fuel to the fire was the alleged affair between Khan and actor Arjun Rampal. Khan rubbished the reports and even denied that she planned to remarry.

Two years on, Sussanne Khan has opened up on her divorce. Speaking to Femina, a women's magazine, Khan said she and Hrithik Roshan had reached a stage in their lives where she felt it would be better if they lived apart. Khan felt it was important to be aware of reality and not be in a false relationship.

Despite the separation, Sussanne Khan has remained in touch with Hrithik Roshan, but they don't meet often anymore. Khan and Roshan have prioritised their children Hrehaan (10) and Hridhaan (8) as they don't want the break-up to affect them.

"We do chat a lot even though we don't hang out together anymore," she said. "We are very committed to our children. We are respectful towards each other. When children are involved, it's important to put our differences aside and protect them."

Hrithik Roshan was recently involved in a legal spat with actress Kangana Ranaut over an alleged online affair, and Sussanne Khan had thrown her weight behind her former husband when Ranaut disclosed cosy pictures with the star at a party. Sussanne Khan had ridiculed the images as being morphed. That show of solidarity had led to rumours of a possible reunion.

However, all such speculation was laid to rest by Sussanne Khan who said categorically in a tweet that there would never be a reunion with Hrithik Roshan, but that they would remain good friends.

Both Roshan and Khan have moved on since the divorce. However, it is difficult to say if the final word on this bitter love story, which lasted almost 17 years, has been said. While Sussanne Khan has ruled out remarriage, Roshan was quoted as saying that it's not that he will never find love again. For now though, the actor is focusing on his next release, Ashutosh Gowariker's Mohenjo Daro.
