Director duo Farhad-Sajid’s Housefull 3 has earned a decent Rs 80 crore in its first week in India, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com. With this, it has become the highest first week grosser of 2016 so far, despite being panned by most of the critics.
Starring an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Boman Irani, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon, the film had earned a good Rs 52 crore in its first weekend. As expected on weekdays, the collections dropped as it gathered just under Rs 30 crore in the next five days.
The film is reportedly made at a high budget of Rs 85 crore. Therefore, it is necessary for it to keep performing in the second week too in order to achieve the status of a hit. Thankfully for the film, the two new releases of this week, Ribhu Dasgupta’s Te3n and Deepak Tijori’s Do Lafzo Ki Kahani, aren’t expected to pose much of a threat in terms of numbers.
Housefull 3 is the third one in the Housefull franchise. The first two were directed by Sajid Khan.
