Rohit Dhawan's action-packed Dishoom pulled in a good Rs11 crore nett on its first day at the box office on Friday.
The numbers put the film in sixth spot after Sultan, Fan, Housefull 3, Baaghi and Airlift for biggest openings of 2016.
The Rs11 crore collection is a decent return for the film and is likely to see an increase over the weekend.
With Varun Dhawan and John Abraham leading the cast, Dishoom managed a better run in the metros than Udta Punjab and Baaghi. So far, reports suggest that the film grossed Rs3.50 crore in Mumbai, Rs2.25 crore in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, and a meagre Rs1.10 crore in the Punjab region.
It does mark a good opening for Varun Dhawan's films. Only Dilwale (2015) and ABCD2 (2015) rank higher on the earning list for the young actor.
With the weekend crowd starting to latch on to the buzz, it is likely that Dishoom might see an improved run at the box office over the weekend.
