Ajay Devgn's Sons of Sardaar will match 300 in scale and effects: Poster

The actor will start filming for the WWI period film immediately after completing the shoot for Shivaay.

Ajay Devgn is getting all hands to battle stations. The actor just released the new poster of his next home production, Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi, on his Twitter account today.

The actor also tweeted some time back, saying, "Need ur best wishes for Sons Of Sardaar, will match the scale of Hollywood war film 300 and based on epic Battle of Saragarhi."

The poster looks interesting with its watercolour painting effect and features the brave Sikh soldiers in an action pose. The film is based on the bravery of the 36th Sikh regiment at the North West Frontier Province during the World War I. The contingent of 21 Sikh soldiers successfully warded off a full blown attack by 10,000 Afghans. The Sikh soldiers fought bravely, and to their death, entering history as one of the greatest last stands. Till date, the battle is commemorated by Sikh soldiers on 12 September as Sargarhi Day.

Although details about the film are yet unknown, sources suggest that Ajay will start shooting for the film soon after he finishes the current schedule for his directorial venture, Shivaay. Sons of Sardaar is expected to release on Diwali next year.

Speaking to a national daily, the actor said, "I shared earlier that I want this project to have the scale of an international epic. Actually, I want it to be one of the biggest films that comes from India."

For now though, the actor is busy with his Himalayan epic, Shivaay, which is scheduled to release on 28 October. The film is directed by Ajay Devgn, and will feature him alongside debutante, Sayyesha Saigal.
