The trailer of Konkona Sen Sharma's A Death In The Gunj released yesterday. The film will mark her directorial debut, following the lead of her mother, Aparna Sen. She has previously made a short film, Naamkoron, in 2006.
The film stars Ranvir Shorey, Kalki Koechlin, Vikrant Massey, Om Puri, Tillotama Shome and Gulshan Devaiah. The story revolves around a quiet family vacation in McCluskiegunj gone wrong. The trailer looks dark, mysterious, and very engrossing. Shorey and Koechlin look in their element, while Massey finally seems to have grown out of the mould of hero's friend. He stands out as the neurotic, bullied Shutu, in contrast to the rakish Shorey. The key event in the trailer is the mystery of the little girl Tani's disappearance.
The film has already caught the attention of critics, and will be travelling to the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival 2016.
With its talent-heavy cast and rivetting storyline, A Death In The Gunj is certainly a film to watch out for.
