Abhay Deol and Diana Penty reveal why they took long break from movies

The actors, who have been missing in action for a long time, are back with the cross-border comedy Happy Bhag Jayegi

The first trailer of director Mudassar Aziz’s Happy Bhag Jayegi has managed to make heads turn due to the hilarious moments it features. But the film has also made news because it marks the comeback of Abhay Deol and Diana Penty.

Abhay was last seen in 2014 in his home production, One By Two while Diana hasn’t appeared in any film after her debut Cocktail, which had released in 2012. The actors spoke about their long absence from the big screen during the trailer launch of their film at The Kapil Sharma Show.

Diana said, “I think there is a right place and right time for everything. And I feel this was the right time for me. The script is really unique. It’s not something you have heard before. The character is drastically different from what I have done before. Which is why I wanted to do this film and wanted it to be a challenge for me to go out of my comfort zone and do something nobody was expecting.”

Abhay feels the comeback is important for him. “Because there has been a long gap and people are saying this is my comeback. If we look from that angle, then the film is very important. If people think this is my comeback and the film doesn’t work, they will say ‘go back,’ I suppose. Toh aaye kyun aap? So, maybe it is a lot heavier now than before.”

But he was quick to add that there is an advantage this time around. “The advantage is that a production house and a studio is backing me, which wasn’t the case in most of my films as they were like independent films. So, it becomes easy with such support. I can share the blame with Aanand (L Rai), Krishika (Lulla) and Mudassar (laughs).”

Happy Bhag Jayegi also stars Jimmy Shergill and Ali Fazal. The film is all set to release on 19 August 2016.
