With the trailer out, Tiger Shroff’s new look in ‘A Flying Jatt’ has generated some curiousity. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the young actor is playing a superhero, but what has surprised many is that Shroff is playing a Punjabi Jatt superhero sporting a beard.
Not too long ago, Tiger Shroff was labelled 'cute' on social media for his clean shaven look. Since then, the actor has chosen to try new rugged looks, and it has worked.
Addressing the media at the trailer launch of ‘A Flying Jatt’, Cinestaan asked the actor whether he chose this role to do away with the 'chocolate boy' image. The actor laughed before saying, “No, not at all. That’s not the reason for choosing this film. I did sport a stubble in Baaghi. So, there has been a ‘growth’ with every film.”
On a serious note, the actor revealed how choreographer and director Remo D’Souza showed faith in him much before Heropanti came out. D’souza stated how he had penned the script for A Flying Jatt even before his first film, ABCD (2013).
“Remo Sir is some one who showed faith in my ability before Heropanti. I took this project because the character is not your typical superhero. He’s very human in his demeanour. He’s more in the Spiderman mould. The best thing about being a superhero is that he has a superhero girlfriend, “said Shroff.
The young actor was also asked about his favourite superhero, and he didn’t have to look far.
“Growing up as child, there was no bigger superhero than my father, “ said Shroff referring to the superhero his father, Jackie Shroff , played in the 1985 film, Shiva Ka Insaaf.
Super heroes aren’t new to Indian cinema, but very few have succeeded. Among the few exceptions is Hrithik Roshan, who has received much fame as Krrish. Director Remo D’Souza though isn’t perturbed with the comparison or competition.
“Both Tiger and I have been been huge admirers of Krrish. But it’s important to know that we are making our own film. We are not competing with anyone,“ said D’Souza.
“In the West, people have Superman, Spider Man, and many more such as The Avengers. All of them have their own fan base. It’s not that they are in competition with each other. We have Krrish and now, A Flying Jatt. So, what’s the harm in having more Indian super heroes? I’m sure there’ll come a time when we have an all Indian Avengers film,” added Shroff.
A Flying Jatt stars Tiger Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez and former wrestler, Nathan Jones. The film releases on 25 August, 2016.
