Salman Khan's Sultan is riding the topcrest of a massive wave. The film came out of its second weekend with a net earning of Rs34 crore. Its earnings now put it in third place behind Aamir Khan's PK (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), and Dhoom 3(2013) for second weekend returns. The closest competitor to Sultan is Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani (2015). Sultan has already broken records for the best lifetime earnings of 2016 with a return of Rs263 crore.

Sultan, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, has shown consistent growth over the last two weekends, with interest from the family audiences. The only film that released this week, Indra Kumar's Great Grand Masti, managed a paltry return of Rs8.25 crore in its first weekend. Its release did not have any effect on the relentless march of Salman Khan's blockbuster. The earnings of Sultan over the second weekend are as follows.

Friday - Rs7.5 crore
Saturday - Rs11.5 crore
Sunday - Rs15 crore
Overall weekend earnings - Rs34 crore

Sultan is now within range of Bajrangi Bhaijaan and PK, which are the top two films in the list of all time earners. Trade analysts are tipping the film to cross the Rs300 crore mark.

Bhaijaan did it again!
