The box office is no stranger to big-banner clashes. While Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo Daro is all set to go up against Akshay Kumar's Rustom in August, September will see Sonakshi Sinha take on Sunny Leone.

Sonakshi Sinha's Akira and Sunny Leone's Beimaan Love will be released on the same day, 2 September. Both films are powered by women and will make for an interesting clash at the box office.

Sunny Leone's film, Beiimaan Love, directed by Rajeev Chaudhary, will see her in a new role as an ambitious working woman. Speaking to a daily about the clash, the director, Rajeev Chaudhary, said, "I know Akira is releasing the same day, but Sunny has her own audience and is very popular as a heroine. If you see her track record, you will see she pulls in a good initial draw at the box office."

Chaudhary added, "While I won't comment on someone else's film, I know our film is attracting curiosity. While Sunny will be seen in a brand-new avatar in Beiimaan Love and fights for the upliftment of women, Akira is more action-oriented. It's about Sunny's transition from a working girl to a business tycoon and will teach one to fall in love with their careers and not emotions."

Meanwhile, AR Murugadoss's Akira has caught the attention of critics and fans across the internet. The film will see Sinha in a serious action role. Akira will also feature Anurag Kashyap as the main antagonist. The Dabangg actress has worked really hard on her action sequences for the film, even learning some martial arts. Her recent picture on her social media account had Sinha showing off a nasty-looking bruise sustained while filming.

Both leading ladies have quite a formidable fan following. With both films based on strong female characters, it is time for women to take centre stage.
