Hrithik's Mohenjo Daro will bring the curtains down on Locarno film festival

Even before its release, Ashutosh Gowariker's Mohenjo Daro is going places. The film has been selected as the closing film of the 69th edition of the prestigious Locarno Film Festival. 

The festival is one of the most popular events on the film calendar, and will take place at the Italian-speaking province on the banks of Lake Maggiore in Switzerland. The festival will open on 3 August and last till the 13 August of this year. 

According to a statement put out, the film will be screened at the Piazza Grande, known to be one of the finest open air venues in the world. 

This will be the second time for Gowariker at the film festival. Before Mohenjo Daro, Lagaan had been screened at the very same venue and received warm applause. 

In the statement, Gowariker said, "I am extremely happy to know that the Locarno Film Festival has selected Mohenjo Daro. When Lagaan was screened at the same Piazza, on a giant screen, one of the biggest in the world, it was an out-of-the-world experience to see an audience of 8,000-plus of different nationalities, applaud the film. I am excitedly looking forward to Locarno this time." 

Mohenjo Daro, starring Hrithik Roshan and debutante Pooja Hegde, is a period epic set in the city of Mohenjo Daro during the era of the Indus Valley civilisation. The film is set to release on 12 August in India.
