Hrithik Roshan needs no support; to battle Kangana Ranaut alone

Actor urges media to have patience, promises to speak on the controversy at the appropriate time.

The stage was set. The audience had gathered in large numbers. The star made a grand appearance and indulged in a bit of show, but it wasn’t what the posse of reporters desired.

Hrithik Roshan made his first public appearance since his legal spat over an alleged affair with Kangana Ranaut. While the latter has not been afraid to speak out, Roshan has largely kept his counsel.

So, when he appeared for the maiden promotional event of his next film, Mohenjo Daro, reporters were keen to hear his side of the story.

Expectedly, Hrithik Roshan chose to keep mum. “I will speak to you all at an appropriate time," he said. "This [the Mohenjo Daro launch event] is not the occasion for it. It would be unethical on my part to speak about a personal issue. I urge you all to have patience.”

One reporter reminded the star that the media was keen to hear from him as he had kept his lips sealed thus far. At this, the lips parted, but only to say, “Later on.”

The Hrithik Roshan-Kangana Ranaut battle has seen a few twists and turns. Initially, it was a one-on-one controversy, but later Adhyayan Suman poked his nose, lending support to Roshan and slamming his ex-girlfriend. Surprisingly, Hrithik Roshan wasn’t pleased and snubbed the struggling actor instead.

Ranaut, too, wasn’t winning any favours but she must have been plesantly surprised by the encouraging words of actress Vidya Balan, followed by former star Raveena Tandon who casually backed her, condemning the chauvinism of male actors in the 1990s. It began appearing as though the scales of moral support were tilting in favour of Ranaut.

So, before Hrithik Roshan could leave the stage, he was asked if he was disappointed that no one from the industry had supported him openly. Roshan shot back, “When you are talking the truth, you don’t need anyone.”

Phew! Point taken. We just hope your ‘later on’ comes sooner than later.
