The classic will reportedly be remade as a Pakistani film

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt earned accolades for his bold Arth that dealt with infidelity. The film was made into a popular play, and will now be remade as a Pakistani film by producer-distributor Hammad Chaudhary in association with AAA Motion Pictures.
Directed by Shaan Shahid of Khuda Ke Liye fame, the film has been retitled Arth 2 with Shaan himself playing the lead. It will also star Humaima Malick, Mohib Mirza and Uzma Hassan.
Hammad has reportedly said that Pakistani audiences have become much more liberal when it comes to accepting contemporary relationships, Hammad and adds that the essence of the film will remain intact. Bhatt is also delighted about the remake and says he has given complete freedom to Shaan and Hammad to interpret it in their own way.
Arth starred Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil and Kulbushan Kharbanda in lead roles and revealed the story of a director who falls in love with an insecure actress despite being married. While the actress' insecurities make her life miserable, the wife tries attempts to re-create her life. Arth 2 will reportedly be released in summer 2016.
