Akshay Kumar's 1990 Kuwait-invasion drama Airlift, which opens this week, has reportedly been granted an all-clear with a 'UA' certificate. Speaking to the press, a prominent member of the CBFC said the Board saw absolutely no reason to cut a single moment from the Airlift. Shyam Benegal reportedly said that the Board should not behave like a school teacher, so it was liberal.
The director of the film, Raja Krishna Menon, is understandably delighted. "They understood what we were trying to achieve," he says, "so I'm grateful that they certified it without any verbal or visual cuts."
The film opens on the same Friday as Kya Kool Hain Hum 3, which has reportedly had over a 100 verbal and visual cuts.
