Aamir Khan's Haryanvi swagger exemplified in Dangal title track 

After the trailer, a behind-the-scenes video, and some songs, Dangal has created quite a buzz by hitting all the right notes. After a good reception for the the earlier tracks — 'Dhaakad', 'Haanikaarak Bapu' — lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned yet another peppy and inspiring number.  

What stands out in the title track of Dangal is Mahavir Singh Phogat’s (Aamir Khan) Haryanvi swagger. The song underlines the frustration and struggle of Phogat to help his daughters achieve his Olympic dream. This swagger is displayed from the time he was a young man to mentoring his daughters Geeta and Babita Phogat. More than the physical struggle, it is societal prejudices that make Phogat angry. Much of the visuals are self-explanatory.

Compared to 'Dhaakad' and 'Haanikaarak Bapu', the 'Dangal' title track is perhaps not as entertaining. The usually high-pitched Daler Mehndi takes a subtle turn with a voice that perfectly matches the expressions of Mahavir Singh. Pritam's music compliments the lyrics and the aggression of the characters in the song.

It would be unfair to expect 'Dangal' to have the same impact as 'Dhaakad' and 'Haanikaarak Bapu'. Watch it for the sheer Haryanvi swagger of Khan and toil of Sana Fatima Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar.
