Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali go back a long way. The two came together for the first time in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), and have continued to deliver three massive hits since. It is with good reason then that Bhansali, while promoting his latest Padmavati, called Rai his 'muse'. In fact, he might have had more than a good reason.
Recent reports suggest the Rai Bachchan and Bhansali are set to come together again in Padmavati. The actress will reportedly have a special appearance in a dance sequence. The film stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles. A source was quoted saying, "Bhansali spoke to Ash and they both are really keen to make it work. The song will be filmed during a 15-20 day schedule, which includes rehearsals at a suburban studio. Ash also has a few dialogues."
Bhansali has a reputation for lavish dance sequences. The most memorable is the brilliant jugalbandi between Rai Bachchan and Madhuri Dixit in Devdas (2001). The performance proved to be one of the most iconic dance sequences of recent times. In Bajirao Mastani (2015), Bhansali rose to his reputation to create the beautiful 'Mastani ho gayi' song around Padukone. In fact, after the Filmfare sweep of Bhansali's film, Rai Bachchan dropped in at Bhansali's house to congratulate him.
With both Padukone and Rai Bachchan in the film, and Bhansali's reputation for lavish sequences, Padmavati is setting up to be something spectacular.
