YouTube 2016 trends: 'Kala Chashma' is top Hindi music video; Kabali is top trailer

Top trending yearly music video sees few surprises; Rajinikanth's Kabali trailer beats Dangal and Sultan.

Video blogging giant YouTube has unveiled the list of top trending video content across the globe in the year 2016. The Indian entertainment content has thrown a few surprises. The Hindi film industry has seen a few unexpected content items making it to the top ten. 

It's often music video and trailers that evoke widespread response across the globe. 

Topping the list of most viewed music video content is Baar Baar Dekho's track 'Kala Chashma' which has got over 140 million views so far. It yet again underlines Katrina Kaif’s popularity on social media.

This is followed by the 'Kar Gayi Chull' track from yet another Dharma Productions film Kapoor & Sons which has got over 112 million views. The success of the video also proves why 2016 belonged to Alia Bhatt. 

Ranbir Kapoor’s 'Bulleya' track from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil came third with over 90 million views. Surprisingly, superstar Salman Khan’s Sultan very popular track 'Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai' took the fourth spot with over 85 million views.

'Hua Hai Aaj Pehli Baar' from a from a low-budget Sanam Re also made it to the top 10.

Here’s the list of the top ten most viewed music videos of 2016:

Meanwhile, in terms of the top ten film trailers of 2016,  Rajinikanth's Tamil film Kabali, which was also dubbed in Hindi and other languages, topped the table. Though it has got 32 million views, four million less than Dangal, where Kabali scores is taking into account the engagement, discussion, likes, dislikes, shares apart from the 32 million views.

Aamir Khan’s Dangal which is still to be released has got 36 million views, but Kabali has scored as it released in July. The Kabali trailer was launched in April. The Dangal trailer was launched on 19 October and in less than two months has got over 36 million views

The Sultan trailer, launched in May, came third with 34 million views. The trailer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s MS Dhoni: The Untold Story came fourth with over 26 million views, putting behind Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay in terms of engagement, discussion, likes, shares.

However, if one is to go purely by the number of views on Youtube, the top 10 is as follows
