The trailers for Sanjay Gupta's Kaabil delivered the scope of intensity in the film, shouldered admirably by Hrithik Roshan's performance. However, the title track of the film is nothing like you would expect from a revenge drama. The makers of the film have just released the video of the title track, and it is a refreshing change from the recent trend of angry love songs in the industry.
Composed by Rajesh Roshan, sung in the voices of Jubin Nautiyal and Palak Mucchal, 'Kaabil hoon' is lovely and melodious. However, it is not a standout track. Rajesh, whose musical career has seen him deliver iconic hits in films like Julie (1975), and the Hrithik Roshan's debut Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai (2000), has put out a soothing romantic track that is a change from the angsty, heartbroken title songs flooding the radiowaves. The track has some beautiful asides in the rising trumpets which raise its tempo slightly. But they are few and far in between to really make an impact. Singers Mucchal and Nautiyal deliver impressively within the constraints of the composition. In the end, you are left feeling incomplete happiness in a song that could have been so much more.
One thing the song does manage to do is lighten the mood and theme of the film. It offers a glimpse into the lighter side of what is expected to be a high-octane revenge drama. Seeing how the film is up against themuch-hypedd Shah Rukh Khan-starrer, Raees, one gets the feeling a higher tempo opening song would have worked better. Hrithik looks in his element as the happy, optimistic young man falling in love, while Yami Gautam looks cheerful enough to complement him.
Kaabil is directed by Sanjay Gupta, and stars Hrithik and Gautam in the lead roles.
