Raees trailer: The Shah Rukh Khan we have been waiting for

This action-drama is exactly what the doctor ordered for Khan's fans - killer dialogues, intensity and action.

Shah Rukh Khan’s last few films have been disappointing at the box-office, perhaps because the audiences wanted to see him do something that would blow their mind. He is a superstar after all!

Raees may just be what we all have been waiting for then. The trailer makes it clear that this a mainstream masala entertainer, but in the realm of reality. And Khan is slated to deliver a power-packed performance.

First of all, Khan is always good when he’s bad. In Raees, he is the hero and the bad man at the same time. The last time he did this in Don, we couldn't help but whistle at his dialogues, antics and action moves. He’s the gun-totting, butt kicking, heroine-romancing hero with the intensity that only he can bring to a role like this. Add to that some killer dialogues like 'Gujarat ki hawa me vyapar hai saheb, meri saas to rok loge lekin is hawa ko kaise rokoge' mouthed by SRK.

In and as Raees, Khan is in his element with this character — the glasses, pathani suit, beard, kohled eyes and that slightly altered base voice.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the perfect match for Khan, as a police officer who vows to bring Raees, who runs an illegal alcohol business, down. This tug-of-war should make for an interesting watch.

The music by Ram Sampath has a '70s RD Burman touch that gives this trailer its edge. You also get a glimpse at Sunny Leone, who will be seen in an item song which is a recreation of 'Laila O Laila' originally from Qurbani (1980).

The film also stars Mahira Khan and Atul Kulkarni.

Raees will hit the theatres on 25 January.
