Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Hrithik Roshan's Kaabil, the two big releases of January 2017, will no longer be releasing on the same day.

While Raees is due to be released on 26 January 2017, a Thursday, as planned, Rakesh Roshan's production Kaabil is due for release a day ahead, on Wednesday, 25 January 2017. The first show, though, will be held at 6pm.

The move has been made by Roshan and director Sanjay Gupta to cash in a bit more on the long Republic Day weekend.

"There have been instances in the past when movies were released mid-week, especially if there is a big national holiday following it. My director Sanjay Gupta and I are in agreement on this. After hearing what our distributors have to say, we thought it makes perfect sense go with a 25 January release," said Rakesh Roshan in a statement.

Though Raees and Kaabil will no longer be released on the same day, it is still a box-office clash and a unique scenario in Hindi cinema. We will have to wait and see how things pan out.
