Hrithik Roshan had only one release this year, but he has emerged as the highest tax payer among Hindi film celebrities in this quarter (period ending 15 December 2016).

According to a Times of India report, the Mohenjo Daro actor paid an advance tax of Rs80 crore this quarter. There are rumours that Hrithik was paid Rs50 crore for the film. Even though he had just one release, Hrithik had reportedly signed a Rs550-crore deal with Star India earlier this year. Buzz has it that Star India has the telecast rights of his next six releases starting with Kaabil in 2017. This deal is said to have increased Hrithik's annual gross earnings by a staggering 1500%, compared to last year when his tax stood at Rs50 crore till the third quarter (October to December)

Aamir Khan, whose Dangal hit theatres today, has come second paying an advanced tax of Rs72 crore, an increase of 112% from last year.

Ranbir Kapoor came third with an advance tax of Rs37 crore. The actor had a hit in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil this year. Kapoor had paid just Rs9 crore as tax in the corresponding quarter last year.

Salman Khan had the biggest hit of the year so far in Sultan, but he only paid an advance tax of Rs14 crore, as compared to the Rs10 crore he paid in the same quarter last year.

Surprisingly, Akshay Kumar, who's had a hat-trick of Rs100-crore films this year in Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom, came fifth by paying an advance tax of Rs10 crore this quarter.

While her tax amount hasn't been revealed yet, Deepika Padukone has taken the sixth place. According to a Forbes report earlier, Padukone was among the highest paid actresses worldwide with earnings of $10 million (approx Rs67 crore).

Johar leads among the directors with an advance tax of Rs4.2 crore.

The figures for Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra are not available yet. Chopra didn’t have a Hindi film release this year, but she bagged her maiden Hollywood film Baywatch (2017) and shot for the second season of her American TV show Quantico.
