Salman Khan tops Forbes India’s 2016 Celeb 100 list, SRK follows him

Superstar Salman Khan has acquired the number one position in the Forbes India Magazine’s 2016 Celebrity 100 list. The huge success of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015) and Sultan (2016) has helped the actor achieve the numero uno position, according to Forbes. The rankings are based on the earnings and popularity of a star in a stipulated period (1 October, 2015, to 30 September, 2016).

His revenue for the year amounts to Rs270.33 crore, which constitutes to 9.84 percent of the total earnings (Rs2745 crore) of top 100 celebrities in the list. The Bajrangi Bhaijaan star has snatched the position from Shah Rukh Khan (revenue: Rs221.75), who is ranked at number two in the list. 

Aamir Khan, the third actor from the three Khans, has dropped out of the top 10 for the first time since he didn’t have a single film release or brand endorsement in the time frame under consideration. He is ranked 12 in the list. India’s celebrated cricketer Virat Kohli enjoys the third position. With the success of films, Housefull 3, Airlift and Rustom in this year, Akshay Kumar has grabbed the fourth position. 

Deepika Padukone (revenue: Rs69.75 crore) and Priyanka Chopra (revenue: Rs76 crore) have gained number six and number eight in the list respectively. Interestingly, it is only the second time since the rankings started that two female celebrities have managed a spot in the top 10. Their international projects have played a large role in them getting a spot in the list. 

Priyanka has acquired fame through her American TV series Quantico. She will soon be making her Hollywood debut, Baywatch. Deepika, on the other hand, will make her international debut in xXx: Return Of Xander Cage. 

Despite his important project Mohenjo Daro bombing at the box-office, Hrithik Roshan has managed to sneak in at number 10.
