While Ranbir Kapoor is preparing for his portrayal of Hindi cinema's perennial bad boy, Sanjay Dutt, Rajkumar Hirani seems to be in a flux about the rest of his cast. Recently, it was reported that Sonam Kapoor had been finalised to play an actress from the 80s-90s who dated Dutt briefly. However, the actress has denied such rumours clearly.
Speaking to IANS, Sonam said, "That you've to ask Raju sir. I can't talk about any of my upcoming films till the director or producer speaks about it." Sonam did not deny any intention of working with Hirani though. She added, "However, I would like to work with Raju sir (Hirani) in whatever capacity I can."
Incidentally, Sonam's denial comes days after father, Anil Kapoor confirmed her presence in Hirani's film. In an interview to Rajeev Masand on CNN IBN, the actor said, "She is doing a small cameo in Raju Hirani's film."

If she does agree to do the film, it would see Ranbir and Sonam reunite a decade after their debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya (2007). The film failed at the box-office, but earmarked the two for future success.
After the success of Neerja, the actress will be seen in Shashanka Ghosh's directorial venture, Veere Di Wedding, alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar, and Shikha Talsania.
For now though, the rumours around Hirani's elusive biopic on Dutt continue to form with beguiling interest.
