The space of online content is just getting bigger. Amazon recently launched its online content platform, Amazon Videos, in India. And now, news has just come in that they have signed on some talented names from Hindi film fraternity to produce shows for them.
Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and company’s Phanton Films and Zoya Akhtar have been roped in to create a wide variety of entertainment series.
Motwane will be producing a show on rival Bollywood producers called, Stardust. Zoya along with Reema Kagti will be helming Made In Heaven, a show about wedding planners.
James Farell, head of Amazon Asia-Pacific, seems to be impressed with Zoya and Reema’s commitment. He said, “We spoke to Zoya and Reema and they know what they are doing. Just because they haven’t done it before, that’s a question to ask. They didn’t write it like a feature. They hired a writer’s room, they mapped out a whole season arc.”
But this is not all. Even All India Backchod (AIB), the humour and satire group, has collaborated with Amazon. They would be coming up with a thriller that is a mixture of cricket, underworld and politics.
