Deepika Padukone is among the top-ranking Hindi film actresses today. She has climbed the ladder of success one rung at a time after making her debut with Om Shanti Om opposite Shah Rukh Khan in 2007.
So, what could happen if she appeared on a chat show with 1990s queen Madhuri Dixit? Well, we know exactly what happened when the two leading ladies had a candid conversation for a news channel show.
During the conversation, Dixit made a disclosure that stunned Padukone. No, don't get all excited. It was not what you think.
It all started when Dixit recalled her younger days when mainstream Hindi cinema was not exactly the most organised workplace. She revealed that she used to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and there was a time when she was doing as many as 12 films a year!
This shocked the living daylights out of Padukone, who said it took an immense toll on her when she did four films in a year once. It even affected her relationship with her family.
But, going back to Dixit's era, a sudden change came over her career after Sooraj Barjatya’s Hum Aapke Hai Koun..! (1994). Of course, the film confirmed her status as the numero uno actress of the time. But something more happened.
Dixit was required to work on this film exclusively owing to the nature of the subject and the way Barjatya worked. After that experience, the Dhak Dhak star decided to work on just one project at a time.
